Creative Concept Extensively Engages

It shouldn't come as a surprise that students become engaged on numerous occasions as they participate in the Invertebrate Olympics.  Just look at the starting points - Invertebrates and Olympics. 

How many 8 - 14 year olds aren't familiar with both? How many won't immediately envision ants or worms racing down a track and want to be a part of that?  Well, the Invertebrate Olympics is designed to build on the excitement caused by both those ideas.  For some, that excitement is maintained when they get to be part of a team working together and representing a country (or city, region, etc.). For others, they are motivated to master a certain math concept (i.e. adding fractions with unlike denominators) so they can figure out the dimensions of the stadium they've been waiting to build.  We could go on and on discussing other ways to maintain student engagement...and we will at our training events (for more details, click here).

Functional Framework Formed by Three Components

The framework of the Invertebrate Olympics is made up of three components or "big idea" events:  Applying to Host, Training Invertebrates, and Holding the Invertebrate Olympic Games.
